Recent data shows an alarming trend for India, with an estimated 29 million people predicted to be affected with obesity by 2035. The repercussions extend beyond individual health, posing a substantial economic burden set to double between 2020 and 2035. Shockingly, it’s predicted that 1 in 4 individuals will be affected by obesity within the next decade and a half.
The theme for this year’s World Obesity Day is a powerful call to action – “Let’s Talk About Obesity.” In the eyes of medical professionals like Dr. Vimalakar Reddy Eppa, fostering open conversations is the crucial first step towards understanding, awareness, and positive change.
