India’s First Augmented Reality (AR) Enabled OPD Services Now Available at KIMS-SUNSHINE Hospitals, Begumpet
KIMS-SUNSHINE Hospitals, Begumpet is now home to India’s first-ever Augmented Reality (AR) enabled OPD services, bringing world-class medical technology to outpatient care. This groundbreaking initiative is a first-of-its-kind in the country and was developed in collaboration with SKIA, a leading South Korean medical technology company.
The innovative AR based OPD technology now allows real-time 3D visualisation of internal organs and conditions directly on the patient’s body. This markerless AR technology offers a highly advanced and interactive way for doctors to diagnose conditions with precision much like using Google Maps to navigate the human body. Be it for detecting ulcers, cancers or gastro disorders, the AR technology enhances diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy spoke about KIMS-SUNSHINE Hospitals taking a significant step forward in AR medical technology that will not only enhance diagnostic capabilities but also improve patient education and confidence.
Furthermore, patients coming to the OPD can view a 3D model of their organs and medical conditions during consultation. This allows for better understanding and more informed discussions with their healthcare provider. This initiative is being initially rolled out across key specialties including:

Neurosurgery
And other super-specialty departments.
