Launch of Advanced Equipment for Asthma Diagnosis on World Asthma Day
KIMS-Sunshine Hospital has introduced two new technologically advanced devices for diagnosing asthma. These advancements allow for easier detection, especially in young children and those with lower lung capacity.
The launch coincides with World Asthma Day, and comes as statistics reveal 260 million people globally suffer from asthma, with 34 million cases found in India alone.
The New Equipment:
- EOS (Impulse Oscillometry): This device utilizes sound waves sent through the airways to diagnose asthma.
- FeNO (Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide): This equipment measures a patient’s asthma control level.
Benefits of the Equipment:
- Enables easier asthma diagnosis in young children and individuals with lower lung capacity.
- Provides patients with more accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Contributes to improved asthma control.
Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition characterized by airway inflammation. It can lead to breathing difficulties, coughing, chest tightness, and wheezing. Air pollution, dust mites, indoor pollutants, chemicals, and exercise can all trigger asthma attacks.
