Raising Awareness About Stroke on World Stroke Day | KIMS-SUNSHINE Hospitals
In observance of World Stroke Day on the 29th October, an awareness program was organised to highlight the importance of recognising stroke symptoms and seeking timely medical attention. Senior Consultant Neuro Physicians Dr. CH. Gopal, Dr. Vinod Kumar, and Dr. Niveditha Sai Chandra led the informative session to educate everyone regarding stroke.
The Silent Threat of Stroke
Despite advancements in healthcare, stroke awareness remains limited, often leading to delayed treatment and severe consequences. The program emphasised the critical need to recognise the warning signs of stroke and act swiftly.
Remembering BE FAST
Our doctors urged the community to remember the BE FAST acronym to identify stroke symptoms:
- Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination
- Eyes: Sudden vision changes, blurred vision, or double vision
- Face: Facial droop or weakness, especially on one side of the face
- Arms: Weakness or numbness in one or both arms
- Speech: Difficulty speaking or understanding speech
- Time: Time to act fast! Call emergency services immediately
